Equilibrium

  • -  Kc = [product 1]^x [product 2]^y/[reactant] etc.

  • -  X and y are the multiplying factor in terms of the molar ratio

  • -  All in the equation must be homogeneous and of the same state if a heterogenous

equation then exclude the ones of different never solids in the statement

  • -  Remember unless all the same volume you need to calculate the concentration but if all

the same volume then should be fine

  • -  Remember to calculate units for Kc will always be mol dm-3 and then rearranged as

required for the equation to do with canceling out etc.

  • -  Kp units will be atm rearranged according to the equation and the squared etc.

  • -  Kp system of calculation

    • -  Calculate the equilibrium moles using ICE

    • -  Add the total number of equilibrium moles

    • -  Calculate the mole fraction of every relevant term in the equation by doing

- Equilibrium moles of X/Total Moles

  • -  Mole fraction value x total pressure (should be provided) = partial pressure

  • -  Check: make sure all the partial pressures equal the total pressure

  • -  The fit the partial pressures into the equilibrium kP statement and calc Kp

  • -  Units calc
